University of Canterbury Student Association

The new Students’ Association Events Centre at the University of Canterbury provides a much-needed entertainment hub for students after the original building was left uninhabitable following the Christchurch earthquake.

Timbercore has project managed the installation of the structural components, which include laminated timber legs, roof purlins and floor joists for a timber floor.
Key requirements in designing the Centre were that it could perform multi roles, accommodate up to 1000 people, and be moved to another site on campus if required.

Timbercore system provides a more streamlined construction process that avoids lengthy planning delays and unnecessary costs. Equally important in the decision is the proven ability of the Timbercore system to stand up to the earthquakes.
